Marie (De Haan) Lake was born in Hull, Iowa, and died on August 5, 1979, in Battle Creek, Michigan. She received her schooling in the schools of Sioux Center, and then moved, with her family, to Sheldon, where she was employed at the Golden Rule and Lutjen's Variety Store. Later she moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, where she met and married her husband, Clifford H. Lake. She was employed in Battle Creek as a medical assistant for 14 years.

She is survived by her husband and two sisters, Ann De Haan and Ethel (De Haan) Tillman, both of Alhambra, California.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Morris Vice, Pastor of the Fundamental Baptist Church of Battle Creek, of which both Mr. & Mrs. Lake were members. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Battle Creek, Michigan.
