Mrs. Barney Woods, nee Knewel, died at her home in this city Wednesday evening. March 20, beloved and respected by all who knew her; she was an old resident of Sioux county, having spent her childhood on a homestead near Alton, afterwards removing with her parents to Hull. She leaves a husband, two children, a number of near relatives and a large circle of intimate friends to mourn her loss; the funeral services took place Friday from St. Mary's, high mass being sung and an appropriate discourse preached.

Mrs. Barney Woods was born At Caledonia, MN, Aug 28, 1870, and died in Rock Valley Wednesday, March 20, 1901 aged 30 years 7 months and 29 days. It is with the utmost sorrow and regret we are called upon to chronicle the death of this esteemed and worthy woman. Mrs. Woods had been ill several weeks, but the immediate cause of her death was blood poison.
Mrs. Woods’ parents moved from Minnesota to Alton in 1871 and resided there until 1878 when they moved to Hull and still reside there. After her marriage Mr. Woods moved to Rock Valley. Five children were the fruits of this marriage, three boys and two girls the last two surviving their fond mother. The deceased possessed many noble qualities which greatly endear her to her many friends here and at the home of her childhood.
The funeral occurred Friday from St. Mary’s Catholic church the obsequies being performed by Father Phelan and the remains consigned to their last resting place in the Catholic Cemetery by the side of the bright Flowers gone before. The deceased leaved beside her husband and children her parents, three sisters and a brother who have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
(Bernard F. ‘Barney’ Woods was born 1863 in IA died Apr 15, 1943 in Bakersfield CA. He married Mary Knewell 12 Feb 1980 at Hull IA, She was the daughter of John Knewell and Mary Leich. One of the surviving daughters was Grace Augusta woods 1890-1967)
