Rites Held for Mrs. Tunis Visser

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed Church here at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 29, for Mrs. Tunis Visser, 84, of Sioux Center, who died at the Sioux Center Community Hospital after a long illness. Services were conducted by the Rev. Dr. Peter Y. De Jong and burial was in Memory Gardens here under the direction of the Co-operative Funeral Home.

Mrs. Visser, the former Elizabeth Akkerhuis, was born in The Netherlands April 11, 1889. She came to the U.S. in 1913 at the age of 24, and was married here on June 12, 1913, to Tunis Visser. The couple farmed in this vicinity until their retirement.

Survivors include the widower; five sons, William of Orange City; Gerrit and Gilbert, both of Sheldon; and John and Peter, both of Sioux Center; a daughter, Mrs. George (Adriana) Kots of Birnamwood, Wis.; two sisters in The Netherlands; a brother, Henry Akkerhuis, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
