Rock Valley Bee of Apr 12, 1901
- Death of A (Albert) J. Davisson. Again has the decree of "Dust Thou Art, and to dust thou shalt return" gone forth in our midst and the people of all the community mourn the death of A, J. Davisson who died Sunday morning of a complication of pleurisy and Bright's diseases. He was a sterling citizen, a true friend to all his acquaintances, a kind indulgent father and husband and his death will be universally mourned,
The funeral occurred Monday afternoon, under the auspices of the Odd Fellows and Woodmen from the M. E. church prayer being offered by Rev. Anderson a portion of the Psalms read by Rev. Huizenga and an appropriate sermon preached by his pastor, Rev. Richards,
The floral offerings were very pretty, especially the two emblematic pieces given by the societies. The procession to the cemetery was a long one the Odd Fellows, and Woodmen marching in a body. At the grave the beautiful ritualistic ceremonies of both orders were performed and the remains consigned to their last resting place.
Mr. Davisson was born in Wheatland, Iowa, March 6,1855 and resided in that community till he reached the age of 28 years. In 1881.be was married to Miss Sarah L. Robley.. In 1883 they removed to Ainsworth Neb. And ten years later to Hooper Neb. In 1896 they removed to Canton SD and the next year they came to Rock Valley where he resided till the time of his his death. His loving wife and six children survive him.
He was a member in good standing of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and of the Modern Woodmen of America, carrying in the latter society $2,000 life insurance which will be paid to his widow. During his illness members of both lodges rendered every service possible and manifested true fraternal sympathy.
He was also a member of the M. E. church of Bock Valley and the pastor and its members also showed their sympathy and willingness to do anything that could be clone and after his death to alleviate the sorrow and comfort the sorrowing ones as much as possible.

Below are given resolutions of sympathy adopted by the Modern Woodmen at their meeting this week:
