Gottlieb Hodam, one of Sioux County's pioneer settlers, departed from his life at his home south of town on Tuesday morning. The funeral ceremonies were held in the M. E. Church Thurday morning, Rev. Du Boes officiating.

Gottlieb Hodam died Tuesday morning at the advanced ago of 82 years. He had been ailing for the past three months and gradually grew worse
until death relieved him. The funeral was held this forenoon from the M. E. church, Rev. F. E. DuBois preaching the sermon.
Mr. Hodam was one of the pioneer's of this community, having resided at his present residence, the place he homesteaded, for the last thirty years.
Mr. Hodam was born in Germany Aug. 29, 1818. He removed to Belvidere, 111., In 1862 and eight years later removed to this place. Five children
remain to mourn his departure. They are Fred Hodam and Mrs, John Dietrich, of LeMars, and Mrs. John Condon, Herman and Albert, of this place, all of whom attended the funeral. Mr. Hodam was an energetic man In his day, possessed of many good qualities.
