Anna Van Ginkel

Anna Van Ginkel, 101, Hull, died Thursday, Sept. 1, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, at the
First Christian Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Roger Bouwman officiating. Interment followed at Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Anna was born May 22, 1893, at Westergeest, Friesland, The Netherlands, the daughter of Peter and Lena (De Boer) De Boer. About 1905, she came to the United States with her family and they settled at Sioux Center. On Oct. 12, 1915, she married Cornelius "Case" Van Ginkel at Perkins. They lived at Springfield, Minn., for a year, and then at Perkins for four years. They then made their home at Hull. Mr. Van Ginkel passed away June 4, 1980 at Sioux Center.

On Jan. 4, 1994, Mrs. Van Ginkel became a resident of Pleasant Acres. She was a homemaker and also did catering with a daughter. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Hull where she was a charter member of the Helping Hands Society.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Peter and Berdena Van Ginkel of Loveland, Colo.; two daughters, Nellie Brunsting of Hull and Martha and her husband, Frank Ver Hey, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Leafstedt, of Alcester, S.D.; 14 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and a brother, Art De Boer, of Orange City. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Lewis Van Ginkel; a son-in-law, Harvey Brunsting; a great-grandson; four brothers and a sister.
