Maybelle J. Van Iperen
Mrs. MayBelle Van Iperen, age 93, formerly of Orange City, passed away on Friday, January 27, at the Albert Lea, Minnesota, Medical Center.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, February 2, at 1:30pm, at the American Reformed Church in Orange City. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Wednesday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

MayBelle Josephine was born on December 27, 1912, in rural Orange City, the youngest child of John and Christina (Christensen) Vanden Berge. She was raised in the Carnes area.

On May 27, 1931, she married Oren Van Iperen at Onawa. They first farmed at Alton and later, at Maurice. In 1941, they moved to a farm near George, and they moved into George in 1953. After retiring about 1965, they lived in Prescott, Arizona, in Orange City, and in California. About 1980, they returned to Orange City. Mr. Van Iperen passed away on March 8, 1995, in Sioux City.

In August of 1998, Mrs. Van Iperen became a resident of St. John's Lutheran Home, in Albert Lea.

She was a member of the American Reformed Church in Orange City. In earlier years, she belonged to the George Presbyterian church, where she was active in the women's organizations.

MayBelle was an avid bowler and she and her husband enjoyed traveling. They drove to Alaska and also liked staying in Yellowstone National Park, where they celebrated their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary with their family. They wintered in California and Arizona for many years.

Survivors include her three daughters and their husbands, Evelyn and Jack Darr, of Hanford, California; Juanita and Richard Quinlan, of Livermore, California; and Carol and Berger Olson, of White Plains, Missouri; her son and his wife, Ronald and Donna Van Iperen, of Sarasota, Florida; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bernard Morkrid; a great-granddaughter; and eleven brothers and sisters, Christine Druyvesteyn; Marie Eggink; Martha Shafer; Berdena Vogelaar; Evelyn Mae Vanden Berg, at age 21; John Vanden Berge, Jr.; Peter Vanden Berge, at age 6; Alice Wallinga; and three in infancy.
