William Verdoorn
May 27, 1919--July 9, 2003

SIBLEY--William Anthony Verdoorn, 84, Sibley, died Wednesday, July 9, at Country View Manor in Sibley.

Services were Saturday, July 12, at Sibley Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. John Engbers officiating, Burial was at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley, under the direction of Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.

William Verdoorn, son of Joe and Jessie (De Jager) Verdoorn, was born May 27, 1919 in Sheldon. He lived his youth and attended school in Archer. He married Clara De Vries of Hospers on March 1, 1939, in Sanborn. They lived on farms in George, Sanborn, Sibley, Bigelow, MN, and Adrian, MN. They retired in 1984 and moved to Sibley. Mrs. Verdoorn died Oct. 25, 1996. He married Frances Jilderda of Sibley on Feb. 14, 1998, in Sibley, where they continued to live.

He enjoyed fishing and camping. His hobby was collecting toy tractors. He was a member of Bigelow Christian Reformed Church, where he served two terms as a deacon. He was a member of Sibley Christian Reformed Church at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Verdoorn of Sibley; five children, Genevieve and Robert Rosenboom of Boyden, Joel and Kathy Verdoorn of Sibley, Steve and Linda Verdoorn of Mooresville, NC, Clarence and Dee Jilderda of Sibley, and Ray and Judy Jilderda of Nipoma, CA; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Mitchell Verdoorn of Primghar; and two sisters, Alyce Offeringa of Sibley, and Gert Vogelaar of Worthington, MN.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Verdoorn.
