MRS. WM. VERDOORN

Mrs. Geertje Verdoorn, 66 years of age, died Tuesday morning at her home in Orange City following a lingering illness.

Mrs. Verdoorn, nee Geertje Visscher, was born in Province Gelderland the Netherlands on Oct. 13, 1874. On July 8, 1891 at Middleburg, Ia. she married Mr. Wm. A. Verdoorn and to this union 16 children were born. Those preceding her in death were twin daughters dying in infancy and a son John, who died at the age of two years.

The past 21 years Mrs. Verdoorn has lived in Orange City. Prior to which she and Mr. Verdoorn were engaged in farming near Middleburg.

Survivors are the widower and the following children: Dick of Middleburg; Jake of Marshall, Minn.; Joe of Sibley; Henry of Hospers; Annie, Mrs. G. Oldenkamp of Hospers; Marie of Marshall, Minn.; John of Orange City; Cornie of George; Gertrude, Mrs. L. Engeltjes of Ireton; Will of Orange City; Bert of North Holland, Calif.; and Tena of Bellflower, Calif. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. J. Ver Steeg of Orange City; one brother, John Visscher of Lake Crystal, Minn., 33 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12 from the First Ref. church of Orange City at 1:30 p.m. and from the home at 1:00 p.m., Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Pall bearers will be Andrew De Vries, John Den Beste, Peter Van Roekel, John Newendorp, Dan Jurrians and Henry Vander Weide. Burial will be in the Middleburg cemetery. The family requests no flowers.
