Mrs. Anna Verdoorn, age 90, of Orange City, formerly of Hospers, died suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 10, 1990 at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

Anna was born Jan. 31, 1900 at Hospers, the daughter of Dick L. Muyskens and Nellie Noteboom Muyskens. She lived in the Hospers-Newkirk vicinity most of her life.

On April 29, 1919 she married Henry Verdoorn at Hospers. In 1946 they moved to Boring, Ore., returning to Hospers in 1965. In 1980 they became residents of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. Mr. Verdoorn died Feb. 3, 1981 at Orange City. Mrs. Verdoorn continued to live at the Pioneer Home until June of 1990 when she entered Pleasant Acres. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Hospers.

Survivors include her two daughters, Gertrude and her husband Matt Huisman of Hospers, and Diana and her husband Albert Sharer of Gladstone, Ore.; two sons, Donald N. and his wife Mina of Boring, and Henry Jr. and his wife Diane of Gladstone; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services were held Monday, Oct. 15 at the First Reformed Church of Hospers with the Rev. Michael Pitsenberger officiating. Interment was prior to the services at Capel Township Cemetery near Middleburg under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
