Gerrit Milford was the son of William Van Horssen and Effie Vande Brake Van Horssen. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux County. On February 25, 1933, he married Helen Lucile Neifert at Attica, Iowa. They farmed near Maurice for 32 years. In 1965, they retired to Orange City. Mr. and Mrs. Van Horssen were continuous supporters of Maurice, where "Game" was a lifetime member of the First Reformed Church.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Evelyn and her husband, Alfred De Vries, of Maurice; Don and his wife, Elvera, of Maurice; Jerry and his wife, Norma, of Algona; and Bill and his wife, Sandy, of Orange City; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Cleveringa, of Orange City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Van Marel.
