The following article from the Alton Democrat, October 16, 1909, also pertains to him:

Pursuant to the dying wish of his widow who passed away at Fort Madison recently the remains of Nicholas Hoffmann were removed from St. Mary's cemetery in Alton this week and reinterred in Sacred Heart cemetery at Fort Madison. Rev. Father Peter Hoffman came from Fort Madison Thursday and brought with him Undertaker Wiltgen of LeMars. Theodore Arens of Alton--whose wife is a sister of Mrs. Hoffman--and other Alton relatives assisted in the disinterment.
