Obituary: Hawarden, Iowa- Bernice L. Williams, 96, of Hawarden, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, with the family present from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Bernice Williams was born October 27, 1915 on the family farm northeast of Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of H.W. and Mary Matilda (Moeller) Schlumbohm. She attended a rural school in Eagle Township after which she graduated from Sioux Center High School.
Bernice married Lawrence H. Williams on May 30, 1936. After their marriage they farmed near Lebanon for many years. They moved to Hawarden in 1956 where Lawrence was in the Gearhart Williams Agency. Lawrence died July 12, 1987.
Bernice was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and later the Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Juffer of Hawarden; her brother, Eugene Schlumbohm of rural Hawarden; and many nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; two brothers, Earl Schlumbohm and Lyle Schlumbohm; and a sister, Irene Loe.
