Edward was the son of Peter Van Gorp and Dirkje Van 0lst Van Gorp. He served in the United States Army during World War I. On January 28,1920, he married Gertrude Muilenburg
at Orange City. They farmed in the Orange City area until 1947, when they moved into town. They then became custodians of the First Reformed Church in Orange City, retiring in 1964.
Ed was a member of the First Reformed Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Russell and Lloyd, both of Orange City; Mrs. Peter (Esther) Bos, of Orange City; Donald, of Montevideo, Minnesota; and Perry, of Sioux Center; 19 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Howard Dale; 3 grandchildren. 1 great-grandchildren, and six brothers and sisters, John (his twin), Ann Ver Steeg, Min Vander Meide, James, William, Sr., and Dick.
