October 22, 1928 - December 7, 2011
Christine J. Vanderzee, a 64 year resident of Cypress, California, passed away on December 7, 2011 from complications with cancer. Christine is survived by her five children, Shirley (Raymond) Van Der Hoek, Charles (Dena) Vanderzee, Anna Marie (Henry) Van Dyk,
Debra (Gerald) Van Gessel, Bonnie (Jon) Peat; plus 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one sister.
Born to Bernard and Anna Roelofs in Sioux Center, Iowa in 1928, Christine came to California as a young child and lived in Artesia for several years. She attended Bellflower Christian School and married her husband, John Vanderzee in 1945. John and Christine had a dairy on Camp Street, until they sold the land to Cypress School District in 1965. Christine was a homemaker her entire life, caring for her husband and children. Following the death of her husband in 2005, Christine continued to spend time with her family and friends playing cards, bingo and other senior activities. She was active in her church, Cypress Senior Center and Circle of Friends. In 2007 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was treated to allow her to continue to experience life. She loved trips with her family to Maui, Nashville, Branson, Pismo Beach and many other places. Christine was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother
and she will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at El Dorado Park Church at 3655 North Norwalk Boulevard
in Long Beach on December 14 at 12:30 pm.
