J.H. Dethlefs Dies at Age 72
Ireton, la. Johannes Henry Dathlefs, 72, of Charter Oak, Iowa, died last Friday in a hospital at Denison.

Mr. Dethlefs was a former Ireton business - man several years. The past 29 years he had lived at Charter Oak and was in business there. Funeral services were held Monday at St. John's Lutheran church at Charter Oak. Mrs. Louis Braaks of Ireton was a granddaughter of Mr. Dethlefs. She and Mr. Braaks attended the funeral.

He was born September 18, 1881, at Schleswig-, Holstein, Germany, and came to this country at the age of 17. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany.

He is survived by the -widow; seven children, Henry of Clear Lake, Iowa, Mrs. W.E. Christiansen of Oak Park, IL., Mrs. H. E. Boehnke and Mrs. Russ Meier of Venture, Iowa, Edward of Redmond, Ore., Mrs. Elmer Hamm of Rockford, III., and Mrs. Gerald Jordan of Berwyn, III.; four stepchildren, Mrs, John Zeitzinger of Pharr, Texas, Mrs. Don Holt of Audubon, Iowa, Mrs. Clare Yorkey of Iowa, and Franklin Scheer of Charter Oak; 15 grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters William and Ferdinand Dethlefs and Mrs. Pete Martin of Battle Creek, Iowa, Mrs. Alvin Baack of Ricketts, Iowa, and Mrs. Leslie Eyer of Denison
