Jake Hoekstra
Jake Hoekstra. 91. of Orange City died Sunday. September 16, at Orange City Municipal Nursing Home. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, at First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Steven Vander Molen officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.

Hoekstra was born August 6. 1899, in The Netherlands. He came to the United States and to Orange City with his family at the age of nine.

He married Tillie Nydam February 20, 1924. The couple farmed In the Orange City area until 1960 when they retired to town. She died February 16, 1981, at Orange City. He became a resident of the nursing home in 1986.

He was a member of First Reformed Church where he taught Sunday school for several years. In earlier years he served on the council of Protestant Reformed Church at Hull. Survivors include two sisters, Agnes Van Klompenburg of Orange City and Martha Gesink of Denver; and a brother, Cornie Hoekstra of Orange City.
