George Hoekstra, 80, of Orange City died Monday, July 22 in a nursing home in Orange City. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 25, in the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The Rev. Edward Fikse officiated. Burial was in Sherman Township Cemetery at Maurice. Visitation was from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, in the Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Mr. Hoekstra was born June 20, 1905, in Le Mars and moved with his family to a farm near Maurice. He worked for the railroad for a number of years and later moved to a farm south of Maurice where he farmed for several years. He lived the last years in Pioneer Home and Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.

Mr. Hoekstra was a member of First Reformed Church of Maurice. Survivors include one niece, Mrs. Albert (Ethel) Ausink of Hadley, Minn, and three nephews, Robert of Slayton, Minn., Bruce and Claude, both of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
