Mrs. Jessie Hoekstra, a resident of Rock Valley for several years, passed away at her home Wednesday evening, Nov. 25. Her death was due to a stroke received Tuesday afternoon, from which she never regained consciousness. Until then she had been well and active.

Mrs. Hoekstra was born in Friesland, Netherlands, June 1840 and had attained the age of 79 years, 5 months and four days. Her early life was spent in her native land. She came to this country with her husband and children in 1891, First they settled at Orange City and from there moved to Rock Valley.

Last May this aged couple celebrated their 55th. wedding anniversary. Besides her aged husband, Tuines Hoekstra she leaves to mourn, six children, S. Hoekstra of Sioux Center, Mrs.J. Kooiman, Rock Valley,G. Hoekstra and Mrs. H. J. Van Otterloo of Hancock , Minn., Mrs. J. Niewenhof of Yakinia, Washington, and Mrs. K. Ikema of Rock Valley, also forty-two grandchildren and fourtenn great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Chr. Ref. Church and interment was made in the Valley Cemetery. Rev. Geerlings conducted the services.
