Clarence De Vos, 77 of Brandon , Miss., formerly of Ozark, Mo., died at his home Tuesday, Feb. 21. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Saturday at Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial followed in Selmore Cemetery. De Vos was born to William C. and Dena (Vander Weide) De Vos, May 5, 1934, in Sioux Center. He worked on the family farm with his dad until joining the U.S. Army in 1956. After returning home from the army he married June Mars in 1958, and they made their home on the farm west of Sioux Center until 1982. He continued farming until relocating to Tyler, Texas, where he was employed at Bonar Packing until retiring in 1998. He then moved to Ozark, where he was employed with Dealers Auto Auction until 2005. On August 31, 2005, he married Marjorie Valentine and they made their home in Brandon. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed bowling in three different leagues, playing cards and games with his children.
Survivors are his wife, Marjorie; and his seven children, Darla and Bob Ritz of Rogersville, Jeff DeVos of Waddell, Ariz., David and Donna De Vos of Rockwell, N.C., Hope and Chuck Kohout of Rogersville, Chad and Vedra De Vos of Lubbock,
Texas, Wendy Salyers of Buffalo, Mo., and Jennifer and Larry Lybarger of Waddell, Ariz.; four stepchildren, Pam and Perry Smith of Petal, Miss., Schellie and Glen Sullivan of Aurora, Mo., Eddy and Melinda Carroll of Petal, Miss., and Melody and Robert Monpgomery of Brandon; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
two brothers Cornie and Elizabeth De Vos of Hull and Harold and Sharon De Vos of Rock Rapids; one sister, Wilma and Harold Kuiken of Sioux Center; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, June De Vos; and sisters, Nellie Altena and Dorothy Klein.
