SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Carol Harlow, 70, of Sioux Center, beloved wife of Gene Harlow, went to be with her Savior Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center. Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Christ Community Church of Sioux Center, with the Rev. Randy Widbin officiating. Burial will be prior to the service Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. There will be no visitation. Carol Marie Harlow was born March 6, 1937, in Palatine, Ill., the daughter of Raymond and Hazel (Perwitz) O'Kelly. She was the youngest of six children. She received her education while living in Illinois. She moved to Minnesota in 1956, where she resided until she met and married Gene Harlow on Aug. 7, 1992, in Austin, Minn. She moved to Sioux Center to live with her husband and his youngest daughter,
Kristin. She helped raise four stepchildren from her first marriage and had the delight of nurturing Gene's four children. She had the privilege to being the stepgrandmother to 11 grandchildren. Lord enabled her to cope with the many trials that she faced throughout her life. She never walked alone as she knew the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Jesus brought Gene into her life knowing that there would be a special bonding between them, as both Gene and Carol
were born again Christians.. Their lives together were filled with tears, much laughter and lots of love. She always said she had been born twice, once when she was a baby and the second when she accepted Christ, and that she would die twice, once when she died to sin and again when she left this earthly realm to be with her Savior.
Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Gene Harlow of Sioux Center; eight stepchildren,
Trudy Kasprzak of Portage, Wis., Marty Bishop of Arlington, Wis., Vickie Beyer and Bonnie Bishop, both of Adams, Minn., Randy Harlow of Sioux Center, Steven Harlow of Kansas City, Mo., Shar Harlow of Sioux City and Kris Harlow of Sioux City; 11 stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Rae Jean Lowe of Cary, Ill., Pat Pittenger of Palatine, Ill., and Phyllis Heathscott of Jedsonia, Ark.; and a brother, Jesse (Mike) O'Kelly of Welling, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
