John E. Meyer, 83, of Boyden died Tuesday in a Le Mars Hospital. Services were held Friday, August 2, in St. John Luthern Church, rural Boyden. The Rev. William R. Lewis officiated. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Meyer was born Nov. 16, 1901 at Rock Rapids. He married Emma Reyelts Aug. 23, 1923, at Boyden. They farmed in the Boyden-Hull area. She died July 18, 1960, at Boyden. He married Elsie Loges March 9, 1962, at Sheldon. They retired to Boyden in 1963.Mr. Meyer was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Rudolph of Sioux Center, Marvin of Boyden and Wilfred of Hull; five daughters, Mrs. Elva Money of Sante, Calif., Mrs. Edward (Marion) Meyer and Mrs. Roger (Carolyn) Drenth, both of Sheldon, Mrs. Gene (Laura) Van Wyk of Le Mars and Mrs.James (Lois) Lokhorst of Jefferson, S.D.; two brothers, Ernest of George and William of Quimby; five sisters, Miss Meta of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Minnie Tiedeman of Woodstock, Minn., Mrs. Kathryn Dickman of Holstein, Mrs. Emma Woelber of Boyden and Mrs. Martha Zwart of George; two stepchildren; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren and four stepgreatgrandchildren.
