Raymond Meyer
Raymond Meyer, age 87, of Rock Valley, IA, died Friday, September 30, at the Hegg Memorial Hospital at Rock Valley. Funeral Service will be 1:30 pm Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Rock Valley. Burial will be at the Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley. Rev. Jim Demke will be officiating. Visitation will be Sunday with the family present 7:30
pm to 8:30 pm Sunday at the Porter Funeral Home at Rock Valley.

Raymond was born March 6, 1907 at Germantown, Iowa. He was the son of William and Clara (Richter) Meyer. Ray was working as a mechanic at Paullina, IA when he married Zelma Ransom on January 12,1935 at Atchison, Kansas. Together they moved to Sibley, IA in 1942 where Ray first owned and operated a feed grinding business and later a cafe.
In 1946 they moved to Rock Valley where they owned several cafes until retiring from the cafe business in 1972. Ray later worked at DeBoer's Gas Station until 1991.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Zelma; one step-son and his wife, Don and Wilma Ransom of Akron, Iowa; one daughter and her husband, Barbara and Richard Wissink of Rock Valley, IA; one brother, Orville Meyer of Hartley, IA; one sister, Mrs. Wesley (LaVerne) Niebuhr of Paullina, IA; two grandchildren and their spouses, Keith and Gretchen Wissink of Sioux Center, IA and Kathy and Doug Klarenbeek of Hudson, South
Dakota; five great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, William and Clara; stepdaughter, Merla Ceil Ransom; four sisters, and one brother.
