Hospers: Word was received here of the death of Mrs. Johanna Jansma, 74, a long time resident of Hospers. She had been bed ridden for several years with Arthritis and was cared for by Mrs. Dick De Graaf at Alton till weeks ago, when she was taken to a nursing home at Albert Lea, Minn. She passed away here Saturday morning. Mrs. Jansma was born at Cedar Grove, Wisc. May 7, 1870 and came to Sioux county with her parents when 8 years old. The family lived on a farm 2 miles west of Orange City and later moved to a farm north of Newkirk. She was married in 1891 to Marinus Jansma and continued to live in the Newkirk vicinity for some years after which they moved to Hospers where they resided until the time of his decease several years ago. She is survived by five sons: George of Jefferson, Alvin of Milwaukee, Wisc., Lou of Jasper, Minn., Marinus of Orange City, Gordon of Albert Lea, Minn, and one daughter, Mrs. Ira Van Beek of Hollandale, Minn. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the First Reformed Church at Hospers with Rev. G. Doctor officiating. Interment was made in the Hospers cemetery.
