She married Vernon Ver Steeg on Oct. 12, 1938, near Hull. They made their home on a farm near Middleburg, where he was a farmhand for Frank and Eva Vander Wilt for two years. While living there, their daughter, Veralyn, was born. They then moved to Newkirk, where they started farming independently. Here their twins, Evan and Eldon, were born. The family lived in Newkirk for several years before moving to a farm near Edgerton, MN, for three years. The family moved in 1950 to a farm near Kenneth, MN, where they resided until they moved to Luverne, MN, in the winter of 1962. She was employed as a housekeeper at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne, MN, and later became employed at Luverne Community Hospital, where she worked as a nursery aide caring for newborn babies. After her retirement, she helped her husband with cleaning at the Luverne Armory. Mr. Ver Steeg died in July 1995. She moved to Tuff Village in Hills, MN, in 2001. She became a resident at Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, MN, in May 2002.

She was a member of American Reformed Church in Luverne, MN, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She and her husband loved to travel. They made many trips to Oregon to visit Veralyn and her family. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, writing letters to her family, and she especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
