Peter Zorgdrager [*brother of Mrs. Mary (Zorgdrager) Hoffs], Orange City, Died.
ORANGE CITY—Relatives were saddened Sunday morning when it was learned of the passing of Mr. Peter Zorgdrager at 10:50 o'clock at the home of his daughter Mrs. Wm. Den Hartog. Mr. Zorgdrager was born in Illinios, January 17, 1879, and died on January 3, 1943, in the age of 73 years. He moved with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Sip Zorgdrager to Newkirk in 1882, at the age of 12 years and has spent most of the remainder of his life in Sioux County. He was united in marriage to Tillie De Bruyn on February 24, 1900, at Primghar, Iowa. To this union was born 12 children, Sip at Everson, Wash.; Clara, Mrs. G. Hins, at Everely, Iowa; Andrew, Trina, Mrs. William Den Hartog of Orange City; Marie, Mrs. John Zylstra of near Archer; Tillie, Mrs. Henry Martins, Rushmore, Minn.; Martha, Mrs. Peter Rensink, at Denning,Wash., and Peter of Sibley. Four children preceded him in death. He became a member of the Newkirk First Reformed Church. Mr. Zorgdrager had been ill since last May, suffermg from a stroke, and has been confined to his bed for the last week. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at the house and at 1:30 o'clock in the First Reformed Church at Newkirk. Rev. A. Jabaay of Orange City conducted services in the home, and Rev. Roetman conducted services in the church.
Interment was made in the Newkirk cemetery.
