Mrs. Wm. Te Grootenhuis Passed Away.
Mrs. Wm. Te Grootenhuis [*nee Hendrika Hoffs] passed away at her home near Newkirk on Thursday, Aug. 26, at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 21 days. She is survived by five children all living in the Newkirk community. They are Henry Te Grootenhuis, Dena (Mrs. Peter Helder), Cornie Te Grootenhuis and Joe Te Grootenhuis both living at home, and Matilda (Mrs. Tinkelberg). She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 1907 and one daughter Dora who died in 1908. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, Aug. 30 at the Reformed church at Newkirk with the Rev. Roetman officiating. Burial was made at the Newkirk cemetery and acting as pall bearers were Henry W. Vermeer, Joe Hoffs, Henry Huisman, Gerrit Te Grootenhuis, Edward Te Grootenhuis and Ben Te Grootenhuis. Mrs. Te Grootenhuis was a sister-in-law of Mrs. Henry Vermeer Sr. and many of the Vermeer relatives drove to Newkirk Min. [*Monday?] afternoon to attend the funeral services.
