Kenneth Boone, 3, Dies From Sacrlet [*Scarlet] Fever and Compliniations.
Kenneth, little son of Mr. and Mrs. William Boone, died at the home of his parents Monday shortly afternoon, of nephritis, a complication accompanying scarlet fever. He was ill two and a half weeks, critically ill for five days. A private funeral service was held for the members of the family who have been under quarantine since Jan. 1st. and the remains were then laid to rest in the local cemetery in accordance with the Iowa statute. A service was held later at Central Reformed Church, at which Rev. R. Meengs officiated. He chose as his text "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”. A mixes quartet sang “Have Thine Own Way, Lord" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Bearers were Clarence Versteeg of Orange City, Chris V. Cosbree, Lester Brommer and Billy Kroon. All but three of the ten children have been ill with scarlet fever so far and last week there were five ill at one time(*?). Mrs. John Spenkelink went into the home last Thursday to help nurse those who were ill. Doris and Annabelle came home Tuesday from Holland, Michigan, also Mr. and Mrs. Ben Versteeg of Holland, Mich. The four were met at Chicago by Rev. G. J. Versteeg of Danforth, Ill.. who brought them to Sioux Center.
