ORANGE CITY NEWS EVENTS OF THE WEEK.
Mrs. C. Van Rooyen.
Mrs. C. Van Rooyen died at her home last Wednesday night at the age of 68 years. She was born in the Netherlands. March 10, 1861. At the age of 10 she came to America withher parents, brothers and sisters. The family came to Newhirk where they lived on a farm for many years. On Feb. 23, 1882, she was united in marriage
to Mr. Cornelius Van Rooyen. Mr. and Mrs. Van Rooyen lived on a farm near Newkirk until about thirty years ago when they moved to Orange City. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her loss, one daughter, Mrs. J. G. De Jong, 5 grandchildren and 4 brothers: John Menning, Edgerton, Minn.; Ralph Meuning aud Rev. S. Menning, Orange City and Albertus Menning, Los Angeles, Calif. She has suffered for many years, was operated on for cancer 18 years ago and a few years ago she underwent two operations in the LeMars hospital. Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at the Trinity Ref. church, Rev. J. Van Zomeren officiating. Six nephews served as pall bearers.
