GERRIT PUNT GONE BEYOND.
Gerrit Punt, one of Sioux Center's substantial and well known citizens, died shortly before midnight Sunday, October 13th, at his home, where he had been ill for many months. He was the son of pioneer parents, having come with his parents from the Netherlands when a child of three years. The family settled first in Michigan, but a few years later moved farther west, taking up a homestead south of Sioux Center in the early '70s. 37 years ago Mr. Punt was married to Miss Dena Van Dis. The couple engaged in farming until 34 years ago when they came to Sioux Center to live. Their oldest son now farms the homestead on which his grandparents broke the first land. Mr. Punt was a good neighbor, a kind husband and parent, and highly regarded in the community. He was a member of the First Reformed church where sentices were held Wednesday afternoon, preceded by short services at the home. Though a sufferer for some years before his death, which occurred in his 66th year, he was patient and uncomplaining.
He is survived by his wife and 3 sons, Neal, Leonard and Arie, all of whom are respected farmers of the Maurice-Sioux Center district; by 4 brothers, all prominent Sioux county
residents, Arie Punt of Orange City, Martin Punt, Sioux Center, Adam Punt, Maurice, Neal Punt, Sioux Center, and one sister, Mrs. H. J. Kots of Long Beach, Calif.
THE ALTON la. DEMOCRAT, FRIDAY, Oct. 18, 1929.
