H. W. HUITINK, FORMER PIONEER, GONE – DIED SUDDENLY SATURDAY AT AGE OF 70 – LEAVES WIDOW AND CHILDREN.
H. W. Huitink, pioneer farmer of Sioux Center vicinity passed away at 7:00 o'clock Saturday morning. Altho he had not been in the best of health for several years, he had performed his usual tasks on the day preceding his death. He has lived in the Sioux Center and Orange City vicinities for 42 years. He was one of the first members of the First Ref. church, which he has served faithfully as deacon and elder for many years.
Mr. Huitink was born in Alten [*Aalten, provice of Gelderland], Netherlands, 70 years ago and came will as a young man to this country in the year 1883. He was married a year later at Orange City to Miss Dora Te Reitstap [*Rietstap]. He is survived by Mrs. Huitink and 8 children, Mrs. Hattie Te Slaa of Hull, Gerrit of Orange City, Mrs. Will Vande Berg, Sioux Center, Mrs. J. H. Ver Meer, Sioux Center, Mrs. Al Mulder, Hull, Mrs. Nick Huisman, Orange City, Henry on the home place and Will of Orange City.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the home at 12:30 and at 2:00 in the First Ref. of Sioux Center, Rev. Lubbers in charge. Mr. Huitink was a good and upright member of the community in which he lived, devoted to his family, church and friends, and his loss will be keenly felt.
