Catherine Walraven was born on March 29, 1905 at Ireton, Iowa, to John A. and Catherine (Hofland) Peters. On January 7, 1925 at Hospers, she married Alden Walraven, who preceded her
in death on February 17,1975. She was very active in community and church affairs and was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she was a charter member of the Golden
Hour Circle.
She is survived by two daughters: Ellen, Mrs. Irwin Vermeer, and Caroline Douma, both of Sioux Center; ten grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three
sisters: Florence Rowenhorst in California; Alvina, Mrs. Martin Keuning, of Holland Michigan; and Josephine, Mrs. Searle Jacobsma, of Hospers. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son-in-law, Kenneth Douma; two sisters; and two brothers.
