DIED LAST FRIDAY FOLLOWING HUSBAND ONLY TWO WEEKS
NUMBER 50 WED AT ELK POINT LAST WEEK
Was Pioneer Alton Lady and Mother of Wm. P. Henkels of Hawarden. Funeral Held Monday Mrs. Paul Henkels passed away suddenly at her home at Alton at 5:35 Jast Friday afternoon, just two weeks following the death of her husband. Following the death of Mr. Henkels she had resumed her usual household duties and although; she was not in the best of health she had seemed to withstand the shock of her husband's death remarkably well.

Last Thursday afternoon she was taken suddenly ill and her son, Wm. P. Henkels,was summoned from Hawarden. Her conditiobn appeared to improve somewhat that evening but on Friday she grew steadily, worse until the end came late in the. afternoon. Her physician attributed her death to an infected gall bladder.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Mary's catholic church at Alton, conducted by Rev. Fr. Bruhe, and interment was made in the cemetery at Alton beside the newly made grave of her husband. Pall bearers at the funeral were Nicholas Croat, Math. Kellen, Barney Pottebaum, Barney Kettler, Math. Herrig and Otto Lieb.

Elizabeth Pins was born at Luxemburg, Iowa, Feb. 13, 1859, so that at the time of her death was a'few days past 69 years of age. She moved to Alton in 1882 where she was united in marriage with Paul Henkels and her home has ever since been at Alton.

She is survived by six children, Wm. P. Henkels ,of Hawarden, Theodore Henkels of Olympia, Wash., Mrs. Leo Keough of Maurice, Dr; Abbie Kenkels and Mis Rita Henkels of Washington, D. C. and Leo Henkels of Moville, Iowa. She also leaves the following brothers and one sister. Math., Herman and Peter Pins of Luxemboury IA, Barney, John and William Pins of Dubuque, IA, and Mrs. Helen Clemons of Dubuque.

Mrs. Henkels was a good Christian to others who always held the welfare of her family as her first consideration. She had been a member of the Rosary Society ever since its introduction in St. Mary's parish at Alton In her last hours she expressed a longing to be with her husband, who preceded her in death only two weeks.

To the children into whose lives have suddenly come two great sorrows in such a brief space of time, the sympathy of many friends is extended. All of the children with the exceptin of Theodore Henkels of Olympia, Wash., and Dr. Abbie Henkels of Washington, D. C., were present at the funeral. Other relatives and friends who came from a distance included two brothers, Barney Pins of Dubuque and Peter Pins of Luxemburg, Iowa, Jos. Pins of Dubuque, P. L. Heles of Mitchell, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Pins oŁ LeMars, Frank Kettler and Miss Margaret Freyman of Homer, Neb., Theo. Steger of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Staebell of Le-Mars, John and Miss Katie Ramacle and Miss Mary Block of Hospers, Mrs. A. Weidenfeller, Mrs. Peter Nemmers, Mv. and Mrs. Wm. Keough and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cronin of LeMars, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chenhall and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Becker of Maurice.
