Dick Hendriks
Dick Hendriks, 79, of Orange City, died Thursday, May 3, 1990, at the Orange City hospital. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Calvary Christian Reformed Church, with Pastor Jack Gray officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was held at Van Ettcn-Olman-Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City.

Mr. Hendriks was born Nov. 14, 1910, at Rock Valley, son of John and Anna Marie (Moorlag) Hendriks. He was raised there and graduated from Rock Valley High School as valedictorian of his class. He served in the U.S. Army. On Oct. 24, 1939, he married Willcmina Vande Burgt at Rock Valley. They lived there and later moved to the Lake Benton, Minn. area.

Since 1963 they had lived in Orange City. In earlier years he was a farmer and a carpenter. From 1968-1975, he was a meat inspector for the U.S.D.A. From 1975- 1985, he was employed part- time by Culligan Water Conditioning. He was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church. He was known for his woodworking hobby, clock making.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and Virgil Schoolmeester of Edgerton, Minn., and Donna and Clifford Visscher of Platte, S.D.; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Rick" and Barbara of Denver; two sisters, Willemina Kempema of Hudsonville, Mich., and Jurena Long of Denver; a brother John of Omaha; nine grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis; two sisters, Anna Marie in infancy, and Marie Gumper, and a brother, Bert.
