Mrs. Chas. Hennrich Died Sunday
Mrs. W. J. Kluter received a message Sunday announcing the death of her mother, Mrs. Chas. H. Hennrich, at Iowa City. Mr. and Mrs. Hennrich have been making their home with their daughter, Mrs. G. C. Knowlton, the past two years. The body arrived in Ireton Wednesday on the train from the east, accompanied by Mr. Knowlton, and was taken to the W. J. Kluter home where at 2 o’clock short services were held and then at 2:30 services were held from St. Pauls Lutheran church with Rev. H. W. Krieger in charge. Intement was made in the Lutheran cemetery.

The home and church were filled with sorrowing relatives and friends and neighbors of the deceased. Chas. Hennrich, her husband, was unable to make the trip from Iowa City and the daughter, Mrs. Knowlton, remained with him. Mrs. Hennrich was injured in a fall last September and suffered a dislocation of the hip and since that time she had been very poorly.

Henrietta Kukuk was born in Germany march 26, 1848, and when a child four years old she came with her parents to America, locating in eastern Iowa. There she grew to young womanhood and on March 28, 1867, she was married to C. H. Hennrich at Guttenberg, Clayton County, where for a few years they engaged in farming. They came to LeMars in 1872 and located on a farm north of that place or three miles southwest of the present site of Maurice, before there was a town there. It was here they went through all the pioneering and grasshopper days with all the drawbacks, hardships and sacrifices. But by hard work, determination and saving, they came through it all and have seen the community as well as state blossom as the rose. Not only were towns far apart but farm settlements sometimes were miles apart. The town of Maurice was platted ten years after they settles on their farm.

For years they were members of St. John’s Lutheran congregation of Reading Township where their fine Christian life was of great influence. When they moved to Ireton, where they lived many years

Mrs. Hennrich’s kindness, cheer and neighborliness will long be remembered. She is survived by her aged husband and eight children, Will Hennrich of Senoy; Ed. And Otto Hennrich of Denver, Colo.; Carl of Gregory, S. D.; Mrs. G. C. Knowlton of Iowa City; Mrs. P. M. Pederson of Centerville, S. D.; Mrs. Herman Renken of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. W. J. Kluter of Ireton. There are 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

On March 28th of this year Mr. and Mrs. Hennrich celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Many and beautiful were the floral tributes. Her age was 87 years, 1 month and 9 days.
