Mrs. E. A. Drew, a resident of Hawarden for over 60 years, passed away at her home about 6 o'clock Wednesday morning following a siege of pneumonia and complications. She was taken ill about a week and a half before her death and for several days was cared for at the Hawarden hospital.

Funeral services will be held at the Associated Church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, with Rev. Clarence W. Hanscom, the pastor, in charge. Interment will be made in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton.

Elizabeth Hone was born in Shepperton, Middlesex County, England, April 28, 1854, and passed away in Hawarden, Dec. 15, 1943, at the advnced age of 89 years, 7 months and 17 days. She came to America with her parents in 1870, locating at Ripon, Wis., where she lived for a number of years. She was united in marriage with Armerst J. Drew at Oshkosh, Wis., Dec. 12, 1874, and to this union were born three sons, two of whom, Jerome and Frank, preceded her in death.

In 1883, Mrs. Drew, who was then a widow, came to Ireton with her three sons and for a short time she made her home with her mother, Mrs. Chas. Hone, who lived on a farm. A few months later she came to Hawarden, which at that time was but a village.

For years she operated a laundry in her home. During her early years in Hawarden, she worked hard to provide for her children. Later for many years her son, Frank Drew, made a home for her and made it possible for her to live in comfort in her declining years. His sudden death in September, 1941, was a severe blow to her. Since then her other son, Sid Drew, lived with her and cared for her.

Besides her son, Sid, she is survived by one brother, Chas. Hone of Archer and eight grandchildren.
