Obituary: Rock Valley, IA: Henry Ver Mulm, 71, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2012 at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 23, 2012 until 5:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley and 6:00-7:30 p.m. with family at First Reformed Church. Henry was born December 12, 1940 near Rock Valley, son of Frank and Hattie (Vander Vliet) Ver Mulm and grew up on the family farm. Hank married Joann Berner on February 23, 1962 at Rock Valley. Together they lived on the family farm west of Rock Valley until retiring to Rock Valley in 2005. Hank enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends; playing cards, shooting pool, and help bake the cookies at the Rock Valley Senior Citizens Club where he was a member.

Hank is survived by his wife, Joann; daughter, Sandra Mathis of Yankton, SD; son, Ronald (Sonya) Ver Mulm of Winterset, IA; grandchildren, Sam Ver Mulm, Carl Mathis, Jessica Mathis; sisters, Hermina Kaskie of Hawarden, IA, Marcella Langstraat of Hull, IA, Von (John) Ardema of Leavenworth, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hattie; brothers-in-law, Bill Langstraat and Frank Kaskie.
