Obituary: Hawarden, IA—Cora Collins Bell, age 92, of Hawarden, IA died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 20, 2012 at United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Rev. Barb Joy officiating. Interment to follow at Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday at noon with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home.

Cora was born July 27, 1919 in Hawarden to Frank and Ethel (Barnum) Hout. On May 22, 1937, Cora married Robert K. Collins in Ireton. They lived in Hawarden, later near Alcester and Hudson before returning to Hawarden. Cora was a waitress and cook at a number of cafes in Hawarden and later head cook at Hawarden High School and West Sioux. Robert died September 17, 1980. Cora later married Elmer Bell on June 20, 1981. Elmer passed away November 21, 1998. Cora was actively involved in Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She also enjoyed flowers and reading. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Cora is survived by her 3 daughters, Darlene (Wayne) Twedt of Beresford, SD, Patricia (Lester) Hamilton of Hawarden, and Kathleen (James) Schurman of Hawarden; 3 step daughters, Betty Hemmelrick of Akron, IA, Lois (Danny) Danielson of Council Bluffs, IA, and Marilyn (Bill) Miller of Minnesota; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 27 step-great-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Cora is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Barbara; 1 great-grandchild Marcus; 4 brothers, Clyde, Leslie, Harold, and Frank; and 4 sisters, Mildred Kelhower, Alberta Waterman, Ella Boyer Anderson, and Evelyn Maki.
