Edmund Herrig, 77, of Alton, died Saturday, Jan. 11,1992 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital. Services were held Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Monsignor Nicholas Ruba officiated. Burial was in St Mary's Catholic Cemetery under direction of the Fisch Funeral HomeofRemsen.

Mr. Herrig was born Nov. 16,1914 in Alton, the son of Michael and Katherine (Ambrosy) Herrig. He was raised and educated in the Alton area. He married Lorraine Mai Sept. 24,1940 in Alton. The couple farmed for many years in the Alton area. They retired and moved into town in 1979.

Mr. Herrig was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, Knights of Columbus of Granville, and Senior Citizens. He was an active member of the Sioux County Hospice Program.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dan of Boise, Idaho, and Russ and his wife, Nancy of Sharon, Mass.; two daughters, Mrs. Pat (Diane) Hughes of Rock Rapids and Nancy Herrig and her husband William Thurman of Redmond, Wash.; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; A brother Ervin of Alton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Gilbert and two sisters, Mrs. Angelina Plathe and Mrs. Celestine Krogman.
