Hawarden Independent, May 6, 1937

Jerome D. Drew, youngest son of Mrs. Elizabeth A. Drew of this city, passed away suddenly at Marshall, Minn., about 11:30 Monday morning, following a heart attack, He had been in his usual health until Sunday evening when he first became ill, so that word of his death came as a distinct shock to his relatives here.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the Benton-Peterson Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, with Rev. Storvig, pastor of the Lutheran Church in charge. Interment will be made in Sioux Falls.

Jerome D. Drew was born in Winnebago County, Wis., Feb. 28, 1881, so was just past 56 years of age. He came to Sioux County when only 2 years of age and the family located on a farm, northwest of Ireton. His father passed away when he was a small child and a few months later his mother moved to Hawarden with her family of three boys. Jerome grew to young manhood in Hawarden but about thirty-five years ago obtained employment in Sioux Falls and has lived there most of the time since with the exception of a few years spent in North Dakota and the past two or three years at Marshall, Minn. always being employed as a baker.

On July 8, 1905, he was united in marriage at Sioux Falls with Caroline Olson, who survives him. He also leaves three children, Milo and Miss Lola at Sioux Falls, and Kenneth at Marshall, Minn. Surviving also are his aged mother, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Drew of Hawarden, and two brothers, Sidney O. Drew of Marshall, Minn., and Frank E. Drew of Hawarden.
