Sioux Center News, August 17, 1961

Funeral services were held Thursday at the First Reformed Church of Hull for Henry W. De Wild, 62, who died Aug. 14, at a Sioux City hospital following a severe heart attack.

Born Aug. 29, 1898, he was a longtime resident of the Hull community where he was very active in community and church activities. He served on the boards of the Farmers Co-op Association of Hull and the Hull Co-op Gas and Oil Company.

A member of the First Reformed Church of Hull, he was elected a deacon in 1940 and an elder in 1947. At the time of his death, he was clerk of the consistory.

Survivors are his wife, Dena; two daughters, Antionette (Mrs. Vernon) Ten Haken of Boyden, and LaVonne (Mrs. Robert) De Zeeuw of Albuquerque, New Mexico, three grandchildren; three sisters, Hattie (Mrs. D. H.) Wissink of Orange City, Pearl, (Mrs. L. R.) Kooiker, of Hull and Alice (Mrs. M. J.) Van Wyk of Orange City; and two brothers, Albert and John, both of Hull, and a host of relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were an infant son, Lester Wilfred; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John De Wild; three brothers, Conrad and two others who died in childhood.
