Funeral services for A. J. (Jim) Ver Hoef, 88 retired farmer and a resident of Sioux Center for the past 18 years were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday from the Central Reformed church here.
He passed away Thursday at the Sioux Center Community hospital after an illness of several months duration.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Marion Klaaren and burial was made in the Boyden cemetery under the direction of the Cooperative Funeral Service of Sioux Center.
Mr. Ver Hoef was born October 23, 1873 at Pella, Iowa, the son of Walter Ver Hoef and Trijntje Klein.
He farmed in the Boyden area for many years prior to retiring and moving to Sioux Center.
Survivors include four sons, Walter of Chicago, Sam of Rock Valley, Bernard and Clarence of Sioux Center, one daughter, Jennie Brinks of Boyden, and two stepsons, Gerrit and Amos Roetman of Boyden. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Jane Diekevers of Boyden, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
NOTE: Married August 24, 1915 to Gertie Roetman (Slothouber),this was her second marriage.
