Bill Godsey - William "Bill" Donald Godsey, 88,
of Sioux Center died unexpectedly Monday, November 20, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Funeral service was Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, with the Revy., Roger Voskuil and the Rev. Paul Den Herder officiating. A graveside service was Friday at 3 p.m. at the Sloan Cemetery of Sloan.

Godsey was born on June 19, 1918, in North Bend, Nebraska, the son of Bernard and Bertha (Fisher)Godsey. He graduated from Sloan High School in 1937 and was a graduate of Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1947.

He proudly served his country in WW II in the 20th Armored Division in the U.S. Army from September 1941 through December 1945.

On August of 1945 he married Marilyn Lord in Sloan. They lived in Peterson, where he was the vocational agriculture teacher. A daughter, Linda, was born in 1947. They moved to Sloan to farm. Marilyn died in October of 1949.

On October 24, 1952, he married Mary Learner.
They had three children, Ann, Char and Robert. The family moved to Sioux Center in 1957. He taught for the Sioux Center School District.
He was a veterans agriculture instructor and later became the vocational agriculture teacher and the FFA advisor for 30 years.

He enjoyed golfing with his friends and had a passion for gardening. He loved caring for his
sheep, geese and dog Sam. He was a member of the ISU Alumni Association, the American Legion and First Reformed Church of Sioux Center.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary; four children and their spouses, Linda and Jack Frisbie of Maryville, Missouri, Ann and Paul
Den Herder of Haslett, Michigan, Char and Michael Baltes of Ankeny and Robert Godsey of Bloomington, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Godsey.
