Jerome A. Gloden, 62, of Hospers died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City after a brief illness.

A funeral service was held on Friday, Aug. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hospers. Rev. James Tigges, Rev. David Hemann and Rev. Clem Currans officiated. Burial was at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Hospers under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home, Remsen.

Jerome was born Oct. 11,1934 at rural Hospers, the son of John and Hilda (Nemmers) Gloden. He was raised in the Hospers area and was educated at St. Anthony's Catholic School in Hospers.

He was a farm laborer in the Remsen area prior to his marriage. He married Ramona Sauer April 11, 1955 at Granville. They made their home near Hospers.
He entered the Navy in March 1956 and was discharged from active duty in March 1958. He then entered the Naval Reserve and was discharged in March 1962. He was employed at the Sanborn Creamery from January, 1957 until March, 1963 when he began farming for himself near
Hospers.

Mr. Gloden was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Reuter Post 0423 American Legion both of Hospers, and Knights of Columbus and V.F.W. Post 5347 both of Granville.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona of Hospers; four sons, Jerry and his wife Mary of LeMars, Terry and his wife Brenda and Larry and his wife Brenda, all of Hospers, and John and his special
friend Miranda Moore of Des Moines; two daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Doug Backer of Sioux City and Pam and Mark Falkena of Hospers; 13 grandchildren and one brother, Donald of Boyden.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
