Frank Holtkamp, a prominent farmer of the vicinity died at the Hawarden hospital Saturday, on his 62nd birthday.
Mr. Holtkamp had been in failing health for more than a year. Two weeks before his death he was taken to the hospital.
Funeral services were held at the Ross Funeral home at 1:30 and at the Trinity Lutheran church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. E. C. Beyer
of the Peace Lutheran church of Alcester was in charge.
Frank Holtkamp was born October 30, 1868, in Germany, where he spent his boyhood days. He came to America as a young man and worked on
farms. Later he started farming for himself, first southeast of Hawarden and later northeast of town. Later he bought a farm in Union county, west of Hawarden.
He married Amelia Wendel Christmas day, 1918. Survivors are his widow; six children, Mrs. Gus Heiman and Mrs. Burdette Heiman of Alcester, Wendel, Walter, Louise and Herman of Hawarden; three sisters and one brother in Germany, and two
grandchildren.
Mr. Holtkamp was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and held the office of an elder.
In 1925 Mr. Holtkamp and his brother Herman returned to their native land to see their father and other relatives.
