Boyden - Nelvina "Nel" Diekevers, 82, of Boyden passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday at United Presbyterian Church in Boyden, with the Brian Schafer officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Township Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m., Sunday, with the family present 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden.

Nelvina "Nel"Catherine Diekevers, the daughter of George & Maude (Jansma) Reimers, was born Aug. 17, 1922 on a farm near Boyden. She received her education in Boyden, graduating from Boyden High School and the Sioux City Beauty Academy.

On Nov. 6, 1941, she was united in marriage to Adrian "Rusty" Diekevers in Boyden. After their marriage, the couple lived in the Boyden area until moving to Flandreau, SD in 1945. In 1947 they returned to the Boyden area to farm. She operated a beauty shop out of her home for 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian, in June 2004.

She was a member of United Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion. She loved entertaining, sewing, fishing and visiting her customers.

She leaves two children and their spouses to cherish her memory, Arthur & Phyllis Diekevers, and Anita "Skeeter" and James Kray, all of Boyden; three grandsons, Greg & Dori Diekevers, Gary Diekevers and Rick & Brenda Kray; four great-grandchildren, Mitchell & Alex Diekevers, Kylie Kray and Audra Detloff; two great-grand-grandchildren, Riley & Trey Detloff; a brother-in-law and his wife, Marvin & Dorothy Diekevers of Hull, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Vern Ingalls and Gerrit Lode, both of Sheldon, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Ruth Diekevers of Sheldon; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two sisters, May Lode and Florence Heemskerk.
