Johanna was the daughter of John and Maggie (Brummel) Vis. She was raised in rural Hull.
On April 28, 1947, she married Nelson John Schreur in rural Hull. They lived on farms by Maurice and between Boyden and Hull. Later, they moved into Boyden and then into Hull. In 1991, Mr. and Mrs. Schreur became residents of the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon. In 1995, she entered the Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon. Mr. Schreur passed away November 16,1996, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1997, Mrs. Schreur transferred to the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Hull. Johanna enjoyed camping, traveling with her husband, playing cards and participating in the activities at the nursing home. She liked to visit with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters and their husbands, Margene and Jay Stellinga, of Hull; and Debra and Steve Streff of Alton; seven grandchildren, Melissa Elbers; Mindy and Brenda Stellinga; and Kari, Dana, Matthew, and Sara Streff; a great-grandson, Zachary Elbers; and a sister, Alberta Visser, of Hudsonville, Michigan.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Peter, Henry, Albert, and two in infancy; and two sisters, Elizabeth Franken and Kathleen Boer.
