IRETON, Iowa - Roland Schreiner, 82, of rural Ireton died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005
at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa,
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in H a w a r d e n,
with; the Rev. LeRoy Seuntjens officiating.
Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 4 p.m. today at Porter
Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Roland B. Schreiner was born July; 5, 1923, near Remsen, Iowa, the son of John P. Kathrine (Ruba) Schreiner. was raised on a farm east Remsen and attended country school and St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen. On Jan. 25, 1955, he married Eleanor Kotalik of Tabor, S.D, in Yankton, S.D. They farm near Oyens, Iowa, for a few years, then farmed near Maurice, IA., where they farmed for 20 years. They moved to a farm near Ireton in March 1980.
He continued to farm for a few years. He then began working for Vogel Paint in Orange City,
Iowa, where he worked for 10 years before retiring.
He took pride in raising livestock, farming and butchering his own beef, hogs at chickens. His family was his great love and all of his grandchildren were his pride and joy.
The couple shared almost 51 years together.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor; three daughters and their husbands Bernice and
Said Ben Saida of Orange City, Iowa, Maxine and Vernon Barents of Ireton and Irene at
Cliff Puhl of Chatsworth, a son and his wife, Ivan and LeAnna of Ireton; nine grant children; two step-grandchildren; a great-step-grandchild; a brother and his wife, Martin and Marie of Maurice, Iowa; a sister Elizabeth Kotalik of South Sioux City; and a sister-in-law, Laura Schreiner of Le Mars Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; a sister, Mary Eickholt; a brother John; and three nephews.
