DEJONGH, ENKHORN, BLYENBERG

Sioux Center News, November 18, 1997

Ada DeJongh, 98, of the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne, Minnesota, died Saturday, November 15, at the home. Funeral services were yesterday, Monday, at American Reformed Church in Luverne, the Rev. Irwin Van Leeuwen officiating. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.

Ada Enkhorn was born at Kampeveen, The Netherlands, on October 31, 1899, the daughter of Wessel & Christina (Blyenberg) Enkhorn. At age 12, she immigrated to the United States with her parents. The family lived in Sioux Center.

On February 24, 1919, Ada and Charles DeJongh were married. They lived on a farm near Hull. Later they farmed near Boyden and Alton and in Beaver Creek, MN, and Luverne, MN. Her husband died on December 10, 1971. Mrs. DeJongh moved to the Mary Jane Brown Home on March 24, 1986.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Christina Van Iperen and her husband Nick of Luverne; her sons Peter and his wife Gertrude of Edgerton; Wesley and his wife Kathryn of Springfield, OR; Harvey and his wife Etta of Hills, MN; Chester and his wife Betty of Rock Rapids and Norman and his wife Norma of Luverne; 28 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, an infant son, three grandchildren; five sisters and three brothers.
