Ruttan, Ila Beth, Mrs. Wesley, died 1983 age 89

Mrs. Edna Dawson received word of the death of Mrs. Ila Ruttan, who passed away February 19 at Eugene, Oregon at the age of 89. Funeral mass was held at the St. Peter's Catholic Church at 10:00 Wednesday, February 23, with burial also at Eugene.

The former Ila Beth Brunspill [i.e., Brunskill] was born and raised in Hawarden. Upon graduating from Hawarden High School she joined a group of Hawarden girls who were employed in Washington, D.C., during World War I. On returning to Hawarden she married Wesley (Rats) Ruttan.

Following their marriage they farmed south of town for several years before moving to California. Mr. Ruttan passed away in 1943. While in Hawarden, she was an active member of the local American Legion Auxiliary, having served as their president.

Survivors include two children, Larry Ruttan of Palm Springs, CA, and Mrs. Lloyd (Eileen) Reel of Eugene, six grandchildren, and a nephew, Paul Brunspill [Brunskill].
